Corn Snake Sexing

Posted on May 4th, 2009 in Breeding by austin

Corn Snake Sexing

Sexing Corn Snakes (Any Reptile) is not easy… Both sexes have similar Traits, Size, Color, No Visible Gentiles, ect. But using these 3 methods it’s possible.

Probing Corn Snakes

The First Method is probing The first thing I will say is if this is your first snake Do Not Do this because it can be dangerous to your snake if done wrong. Probing is were a Vet Gets a probe ( looks like a metal pencil) ,and sticks it down the little flap near the tail area seeing how far down it goes tells them what sex it is.

Popping Corn Snakes

The Next Method also needs to be done by a professional. Popping is done usually in young snakes and involves sticking a little metal pipe and applying pressure on the vent to see if gentiles pop out. ( Corn Snakes Have Two Penises)… as you could imagine this is not safe or comfortable for you Corn Snake so be careful.

Visual Sexing

The last and most recommended method is using your own Eyes. This isn’t 100% like the other two ,but is harmless to the snake.
Examine the tail section of the snake behind the vent. Look for bulges maybe indicating the snakes gentiles. The male's tail will also generally be slightly longer and broader at the vent because of these organs.

Corn Snake Sexing ~ Well Those are the ways I know to sex A Corn Snake. Hope This Helped. Leave A Comment to recommend a post, more sexing methods, Or to wish just leave feedback. But please no “Hate Comments”

Thanks,
Austin
